We commit to creating and finding places of sanctuary,
of tranquility, of peace;
places for seeking goodness, truth, beauty;
places of healing, of deep learning, of transformation;
places of integrity and wholeness, justice, love.
We commit to living lives that are good and beautiful and true,
lives that are integrated and whole,
lives that draw energy from our hearts and souls,
lives that are supported and nourished
by the systems and environments we create and care for.

Thomas D'Alessio

Awakening courses grew out an integration of psychotherapy, spirituality, therapeutic journal methods, and forty-eight years of
active practice as a counselor, therapist, and educator.

Jennifer D'Alessio
Over the past twelve years Jennifer has cultivated a workstyle that incorporates most of her passions along her
journey through life. An intensive classical training in violin performance, starting when she was two and a half and
through graduation from Eastman School of Music, has led to her current involvement as the fiddle/accordion player and
vocalist in the Irish rock band, Hearthfire. With twelve years experience as a firefighter, EMT, Paramedic/Critical
Care Paramedic, she continues to teach CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. Jennifer retired from
her work in emergency medicine to pursue her passion for cooking, and finished her bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and
Hospitality Management while driving from Wisconsin to California in a Smart Car. She has worked as a chef in restaurants,
catered private events, and has taught cooking and wine classes. She maintains her certification in ServSafe Sanitation
Manager food safety training.
In addition to cooking and playing music, Jennifer’s hobbies include cycling, hiking, skiing, gardening, reading, and scuba diving. Her
most recent accomplishment in cycling was her first-ever century ride (100+ miles) in September 2020. She also satisfies her love of
the outdoors with her job as a deck hand on the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences’ research vessel, Neeskay, where her cooking skills
have become most welcome and appreciated.
